Last year I interviewed a lady for our local museum. She had kept examples of several ‘make do’ costumes from 1960s primary school productions she had worked on. Amongst her innovative ideas were cut up paper doilies for lookalike lace, glued around a square of garbage bag – perfectly good Tyrolean maiden aprons with matching headdress!
