Here’s a blast from the past: we recently ran across the short-lived but much loved in-house comic strip The Archivist and the Aardvark. Created by Michael R Allen it was first published in an internal staff newsletter in 1976. It then appeared to the public in Archeion – the Newsletter of the State Archives [Issue No. 5 June 1987, Archives Authority of NSW].
I wonder why there aren’t more comic strips about archivists?

Oh my god I LOVE this cartoon. It pre-dates me being an archivist, so I don’t remember it at all. Any chance of a little e-book of The Archivist and the Aardvark? Digital publishing would make it soooo easy….

Hi Kimberly,
Isn’t it great! The comic strip was a very limited run so it wouldn’t amount to a very large eBook, but it’s something to ponder nonetheless. I wonder if we could persuade the artist to resurrect the series :)
