Anzacs – from the trenches

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign in 2015 State Records NSW will be highlighting a selection of state archives relating to NSW soldiers and nurses that encapsulate the Anzac spirit! Take a look at some of our first entries.

The Mysterious Cenotaph Photograph

One of the mysteries that our Archivists came across involved a photograph in the collection that was of a gathering around the Cenotaph in Martin Place, Sydney.  At first glance you would think it is clearly of an occasion like Anzac Day or Remembrance Day. However, the date given was February 1929. Why were people gathering around the monument? Learn the results of our investigations here.
