What I like about this archive is that it is a reminder of what life was like not too long ago. It was a time when people couldn’t dash off to the supermarket or hardware store and just buy what they needed for the home.

The papers were duly filed by a clerk of the Colonial Secretary’s Office, and there they remained undisturbed for 120 years.
